"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming." In between snores, as he tosses and turns, his ears (if he has them) must be burning. That's because we'll be discussing Cthulhu a good bit in this issue. Four articles analyze "The Call of Cthulhu" from various angles, and one runs down the other Lovecraft tales in which Cthulhu appears. We even examine the debate over how the name itself is pronounced.

Crypt of Cthulhu is particularly pleased to offer two ethnographic studies by Richard L. Tierney, in which he collects vestiges of Cthulhu cult-worship in far-flung corners of our hemisphere. Who says this stuff is all fiction?

Cthulhu is not the only amphibian monster in HPL, though he is surely the paramount one. There are others, including the Deep Ones of Innsmouth, Father Dagon, and the mysterious Saint Toad. We'll be devoting some attention to these fearsome fellows, too.

Finally, in an effort to pander shamelessly to the tastes of any and all readers, we present "A Cthulhu Challenge" (a word-search toughie) and a "Pickman's Gallery Girl Next Door" centerfold! Take a peek if you darel

Bet you thought we'd forgotten . . . this is our first anniversary issue! Yep, Volume 2, Number 1! Didn't think we could do it, did you? Rest assured, this is only the beginning!
